Hisense Europe Sustainability report: Important milestones in the ESG areas
07.05.2026

Advancing energy and reducing the environmental footprint
The year 2025 was marked by significant progress in the transition to renewable energy sources. At the production plant in Velenje, we expanded solar capacity by an additional 4.4 MW, bringing the total capacity to 5.3 MW. This increases energy self-sufficiency and reduces our impact on the environment.
We have also implemented five key energy efficiency projects, which together deliver annual savings of 1760 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent. We are supporting progress by introducing advanced digital energy monitoring and management solutions that allow us to gain real-time visibility into the consumption of our production facilities. This allows us to better control, optimize processes and continuously improve efficiency.
Supply chain optimization is also an important part of our efforts. We source 33% of our materials from local suppliers, 36% from other EU countries, and only 26% from overseas. This reduces transport-related emissions while strengthening the resilience and flexibility of the supply chain.
In the field of circular economy, we continue to develop recycling projects, closed production loops and the reuse of components. We have successfully refurbished and reused 1954 dishwasher electronic circuits, with no perceived quality issues, confirming the potential to extend these approaches to other products.
Employees and the community at the heart of social responsibility
At Hisense Europe, we build sustainability together with our employees. Taking care of our health, safety and well-being remains one of our key priorities. Our occupational health and safety management system is ISO 45001 certified, providing a structured approach to identifying and reducing risks. In addition, we are also implementing wellbeing initiatives such as ergonomic workplace adaptations.
In accordance with the SA8000 standard, we ensure fair working conditions. In 2025, we put in place additional policies that support work-life balance, including by defining working hours more clearly and informing employees on the right to disconnect.
We are also committed to creating an inclusive work environment where everyone has equal opportunities for development and advancement. An important part of this is the operation of Gorenje I.P.C., which provides employment opportunities for 357 people with disabilities.
Consumers also play an important role in our development. We incorporate their feedback into product development, which allows us to better adapt to their needs. Among other things, we also develop solutions for more vulnerable groups, such as Atag hobs adapted for the blind and visually impaired.
Responsible management as the foundation of sustainable growth
Sustainability is inextricably linked to the way we operate. Our report is based on a double materiality analysis that takes into account both our environmental and social impact and the impact of sustainability factors on our business. Progress is monitored with clearly defined targets and performance indicators, with a particular focus on production activities. Key areas include emission reduction, energy efficiency, product circularity and supply chain sustainability.
Over the past year, we have further strengthened our digital capabilities with the app for ESG reporting, improved supplier monitoring and automated reporting processes. This increases the accuracy, transparency and efficiency of management. Our sustainability report has also been independently verified in accordance with international standards, further confirming the credibility of our efforts.
Recognized excellence at the global and local level
The company's systematic efforts are widely recognized. In 2025, Gorenje received the highest possible EcoVadis rating – a platinum award that ranks the company among the most successful in the world in the field of responsible and sustainable business. At the local level, the company also received the Green Star certificate for the fourth year in a row last year, which confirms its consistent progress on the path of green transformation. An important recognition is also the title of Sustainable Leader, which was awarded to Urška Butolen, Head of Corporate Sustainability Management, at the end of 2025. The title highlights individuals and organizations with exemplary practices in the field of sustainable management.
Looking ahead
Achievements in 2025 are an important step, but we see sustainability as a long-term process. By further developing knowledge, strengthening internal competencies and incorporating sustainable principles into our daily work, we are building the foundations for responsible and stable growth. Sustainability thus remains a shared commitment of all of us and an important part of our future.
