Hisense Europe donates new fire truck to Velenje Professional Fire Department

08.04.2024
The Velenje professional fire department is richer for a new GVC1 fire truck with a water tank, which we ceremoniously handed over to them at today's event in front of the Velenje fire station. Hisense Europe's donation to the Velenje professional fire department is worth 350,000 euros. The firefighters also purchased additional equipment worth 40,000 euros for the new vehicle, which was also partially financed by the Municipality of Velenje.

"For us at Hisense Europe and Gorenje, the well-being of the community is not just a responsibility, it is the foundation of our values. We understand and respect the important role of our local fire department in ensuring the safety of our city and neighboring cities, as well as our extensive Hisense Europe industrial park, where all our production and business facilities are located on more than 63 hectares of land and where more than 3,500 people come to work every day,” said Hanson Han, CEO of Hisense Europe, at the vehicle handover. “Caring for our safety is a great responsibility, both to the local community, to employees, to the city and to the environment. We have entrusted this responsible task to the firefighters of the Velenje professional fire department. With this donation, we want to support their good work and enable them to be prepared for times when we may need their help and protection. Not long ago, when we faced floods, we were once again convinced of how important and valuable fire departments are and the courage of firefighters and their selflessness when they dedicate their lives to protecting ours. That is why we must support them, as they always defend us.

The public institution PGE Velenje, with constant 24-hour emergency readiness, performs the public fire service and other protection and rescue tasks in the area of the Municipality of Velenje, as well as the activities of the fire department of wider importance in the municipalities of Šmartno ob Paki and Šoštanj. In addition to protecting and saving lives and property, the mission of PGE Velenje is to raise awareness among citizens about fire prevention culture, self-protection and their actions in the event of accidents. By performing the fire service and other protection and rescue tasks in contractual companies, it takes care of prevention and thus ensures the safety of employees, property and citizens living in the areas where the companies operate.

As pointed out by the Mayor of the Municipality of Velenje, Peter Dermol, this is the first such large donation from a company from the area covered by PGE Velenje. "The public activity of PGE Velenje also extends to the industrial environment, which is why the PGE Velenje Institute is also focused on identifying various technologies and dangers arising from technological processes, and will continue to invest in training its own staff in the field of prevention. The new fire truck is certainly an important acquisition that will contribute to the better efficiency of our fire rescue system and even greater safety for our citizens, so I would like to thank the Hisense Europe group for this fire truck, and I wish the firefighters safe work with it."

As part of the event, the firefighters conducted a demonstration exercise and presentation of the vehicle, which is equipped with the latest technology and capabilities that ensure that firefighters have the tools they need to respond quickly and effectively to any danger. It is intended for very wide use, as it holds 3,000 liters of water, an electric generator, a thermal camera, a high-pressure fire extinguisher and a combined battery tool - that is, equipment for both firefighting and technical interventions. "But in addition to the equipment itself, this donation symbolizes above all the spirit of cooperation and support that defines our community. This is proof of what we can achieve when we work together with a common purpose,” said Hanson Han.
