Project description Plastic production and end-of-life processes cause significant environmental damage. Innovative solutions are needed to develop new types of plastics that are environmentally friendly while maintaining technical properties and cost-effectiveness comparable to petroleum-based plastics currently on the market. The goal: to obtain secondary materials from 100% recycled plastic. In addition, new technologies are needed to enable the use of this secondary raw material in traditional production chains of the plastics manufacturing sector. The production of plastics with a lower environmental impact will provide support to a sector that is currently perceived as particularly critical by end-users. 2/ Industrial symbiosis: scaling up INCIRCULAR. INCIRCULAR brings together three regional ecosystems that complement each other in a comprehensive demonstration project aimed at scaling up a unique process technology implemented in Slovenia and at the same time acquiring technologies from the Spanish and French regions (process/digital twinning). INCIRCULAR thus enables interregional technology transfer within TRL6 to 9, supporting the establishment of an interregional circular ecosystem that will scale up across the EU. From a technological perspective: 1. To demonstrate the production of bioplastics that are 100% derived from recycled plastic, that are 100% recyclable and have similar or better technical properties than current petrochemical plastics. This is based on the demonstration (TRL6 to TRL9) of a research and development process developed by TECOS (SI) in collaboration with an innovative SME (ES) and intended for installation and use in the Gorenje industrial plant (SI). 2. To directly integrate secondary materials into the production chain at the Gorenje site, in collaboration with Omaplast (SI), which will carry out collection, sorting and recycling on site. To ensure production, an innovative integration of a digital partnership in the plastic injection molding process developed by two SMEs (FR) is required.
