Hybrid Technologies for Green Factories of the Future

GREENTECH

GREENTECH brings together leading industrial companies and researchers in the development of green technologies that are transforming the way products of the future are created. The programme delivers more energy‑efficient, environmentally friendly, and smarter manufacturing solutions with a measurable impact on reducing emissions, energy consumption, and material use. For Gorenje, GREENTECH represents a strategic step towards sustainable growth, technological excellence, and long‑term competitiveness.

The GREENTECH research programme is a nationally strategic initiative funded through the Slovenian public call for the co‑financing of long‑term collaborative research and innovation programmes at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 3–6. Its objective is to accelerate the green transition of Slovenian companies at the level of production processes and final products, and to develop advanced technologies that will deliver more energy‑efficient, environmentally friendly, and materially less resource‑intensive solutions.
The programme brings together key industrial companies—among them Gorenje d.o.o., Fotona, Domel, LPKF, Yaskawa Slovenia, Danfoss Trata, Kronoterm, and Medius—as well as research institutions from the University of Ljubljana (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Social Sciences) and the University of Primorska (Faculty of Management). The coordinating partner of the programme is the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana.
Implemented between 1 January 2024 and 30 June 2026, the programme develops solutions that, within ten years of their full deployment on the EU market, are expected to contribute to a reduction of CO₂ emissions by more than 17 million tonnes, savings of nearly 9 billion kWh of energy, and a reduction of material consumption by 800,000 tonnes. The total value of the programme amounts to EUR 5.23 million, of which EUR 3.75 million represents non‑repayable funding.

For Gorenje d.o.o., GREENTECH represents an important opportunity to develop new green technologies, improve the energy efficiency of products, optimise production processes, and strengthen competitiveness through sustainable operations.
